“Oh, come on, man. How hard could it be?”
Kitagawa Jun was trying to cheer me up the next morning before classes started, engaging in his usual irreverent bullshit. “You’re going on a date with a cute girl that’s smart, too. Plus, she works at the hospital right? Means she’s got money!”
And, as usual, I was tired of his usual irreverent bullshit. “Not ‘works at,’ ‘Lives at.’ She even has some fancy meds I’ve never heard of. Miruna-something.”
“Look at what? I don’t see anything.”
Kitagawa was lucky I had taken all of my books out of my bag. Otherwise I would’ve cracked his skull open when I hit him. “You’re an ass, you know that?” I added.
Kitagawa rubbed his head where the bag landed.“Geez, calm down, Aizawa. This isn’t the end of the world. It’s just a date.”
“Yeah, I know, but something seems…off. I dunno.”
“Well, that’s up to you to find out.” He took his seat and turned to face me. “I can’t help you get out of this because I’m going to be busy with Kaori-chan this evening.”
I couldn’t help but crack an ironic smile. You know what, I thought, if you’re still going after her, I don’t think I want your help.
“Fight on, Kitagawa,” I said politely.
